About Nawa Jyou Wa 縄情話
縄情話 (Nawa Jyou Wa) is a personal journal chronicling my journey through the shifting world of Kinbaku. As Naoko — born in Hong Kong, shaped by many cultures, and now a deshi to Naka Akira, one of the most influential Kinbakushi of all time - I navigate the tension between belonging and not belonging, knowing and not knowing.
This blog is not about “what is Kinbaku” or “how to do Kinbaku”. It is in no way a guide or a manual. It is a space for reflections drawn from private lessons, intimate sessions, events held in the spirit of tradition, and conversations with important figures in the world of Kinbaku. Through interviews, fleeting impressions, and lingering questions, I invite you to join me—not in seeking clarity, but in embracing the complexity that makes Kinbaku so beautiful.
I am using words to describe something that cannot be held by words—like tracing the outline of mist with ink. These words are not to define, but to search: for a reason that may never fully reveal itself, for a meaning that perhaps has no single shape. Ultimately, this is a search for Kokoro—the heart, the spirit—in Kinbaku, not only mine but everyone’s.
